PODCAST | Are we winning the race to net zero carbon?

The Government has set a national target of being net zero carbon by 2050, a move that has prompted the property industry to dramatically overhaul its practices, but is the sector doing enough?

Richard Lewis, technical and quality director at M&E consultancy Davies Partnership – alongside Paul Gerrard, director of developer ForLiving, and Victoria Alderton, director of architect Paddock Johnson – joined Place North West reporter Dan Whelan to discuss how the industry is handling the sustainability challenge.

Questions asked:

  • What is the property industry doing to reduce carbon emissions in line with Government targets?
  • What more needs to be done to ensure that the national 2050 net zero carbon target is met?
  • What is embodied carbon and why aren’t we talking about it more?
  • How are developers incorporating low carbon technologies into schemes while keeping schemes viable?
