Pochin to expand Mere Golf Club

Pochin Construction has been awarded a £15m contract to refurbish and extend Mere Golf & Country Club in Cheshire.

The project, which will be carried out in two phases, will see the conversion and extension of an existing stable block to form a new five star-spa, swimming pool and leisure facility.

Pochin will also carry out the demolition of part of the existing structure together with the existing North Lodge, which was previously used as staff accommodation, as well as carrying out alterations to the exit route to the A556. The first phase is well underway and is scheduled to be completed by late December.

The second phase comprises the construction of an extension to house 81 luxury bedrooms. This phase includes the demolition of the old leisure area and will involve the refurbishment of a large portion of the existing building.

Pochin will also carry out external works to the new retaining walls, pathways and additional landscaped areas. The second phase will start once the initial phase is complete and is scheduled for completion by February 2012.
