Plans tabled for 109-home St Helens scheme

The Jones Partnership wants to redevelop a nine-acre Green Belt site of Elton Head Road south-west of the town centre.

Consultancy Cassidy + Ashton has worked with the developer to draw up outline proposals for 109 homes on the plot. The scheme would comprise a mix of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom houses.

While currently designated as Green Belt, the site is expected to be released for residential development by St Helens Council in the emerging local plan, according to Cassidy + Ashton.

There is precedent for a similar scale of development in the area. In 2015, Morris Homes won consent to build 114 homes on a neighbouring plot of Lowfield Lane.

The site abuts an area of dense woodland. Under The Jones Partnership’s plans, a pedestrian link between the housing development and the woods is to be created.

Yes let’s build another 109 homes on greenbelt land to add to the numerous planning applications already submitted within a mile radius of this site. When are they ever going to stop grabbing all the greenbelt land in this area!!
