Plans submitted for Kirkham sports and science park

Plans for an £18m sports and science park at Kirkham have been formally submitted to Fylde Borough Council.

Preston-based consultancy PWA Planning has made the application for the development on behalf of Mill Farm Ventures.

The scheme was designed by the Frank Whittle Partnership and is set to be considered by Fylde councillors later this year.

Paul Walton, director of PWA Planning, said: "This mixed-use planning application represents the culmination of efforts by an experienced team of consultants using their expertise to come up with an exciting vision.

"The site is allocated for employment and leisure uses in the emerging Fylde Local Plan and this proposal directly addresses the council's and national Government's aspirations surrounding sustainable development."

The proposed development is on a 32-acre site off junction three of the M55 outside Kirkham. The plans were submitted following consultations with local people.

The project includes community sports and education facilities as well as new retail, leisure and commercial development. It also includes a new stadium for non-league football club AFC Fylde.
