Plans submitted for 54 apartments in Colwyn Bay

Ainsley Gommon Architects is working for the Wales and West Housing Association on a scheme to craft apartments for those aged 55 and over.

The homes will be built on a half-acre site along Bay View Road in Colwyn Bay, according to plans submitted to Conwy County Council. The proposal calls for three wheelchair-accessible one-bedroom apartments, 43 one-bedroom apartments and eight two-bedroom apartments. The spaces will range from 495 sq ft to 657 sq ft.

Plans include several shared areas for residents, including a courtyard and a small lounge. There will also be an electric scooter store.

The overall structure will range from two storeys to five, with the tallest parts taking place in the middle of the site.

Demolish

The housing association wants to demolish the buildings in red in order to make way for apartments

For work to begin, however, several buildings need to be demolished. That includes two former townhouses, a metal clad workshop and a terrace of three residences.

Jadine Havill with Turley developed the planning application.
