Plans in for Salford PRS towers

Amstone Developments has lodged a planning application with Salford City Council for a five-block residential development at Clippers Quay.

The scheme on the four-acre former multiplex cinema site will total 614 apartments and will include 17,000 sq ft of flexible commercial space. Amstone has proposed a start on site of Q2 2015, subject to planning approval which is expected by the end of the year.

Amstone purchased the former multiplex cinema site from Ask Developments in July.

The flats will be available for the private rented sector and will include concierge services, residents' social activities and a car club facility.

Public realm space has been incorporated into the scheme, similar in size to Manchester's St Ann's Square, with a green avenue running through the site.

The development includes the construction of a footbridge that will land at the Wharfside tram stop. The new tram line will be a direct link to Trafford Park and the Trafford Centre.

Martin Halsey, operations director at Amstone Developments said: "In this new economic cycle Amstone is focusing towards residential development and we aim to become the front-runner in PRS development in the North West.

"We are well funded as a group with access to significant private equity funds. Our Clippers Quay scheme provides us with the launch pad to roll out our PRS urban village concept in other North West locations in the future."

Deloitte is advising on planning and the architect on the project is Leach Rhodes Walker.
