Plans in for homes at Prestwich Golf Club

Developer Mulbury has submitted a planning application to build 17 detached and semi-detached homes on a parcel of land owned by Prestwich Golf Course on Kersal Road.

The homes, designed by Calderpeel Architects, will be for private sale under the Mulbury Living brand.

The site is owned by the golf club, and proceeds from developing the land will be used to help improve its facilities, and to expand the golf course onto a separate parcel of land, also owned by the club.

Bury Council will consider the proposals in the New Year. The professional team also includes Ludlam Associates as planner.

Mark Massey, director at Calderpeel Architects, said the scheme would help to “secure the future of the local golf club.”

“Mulbury is a developer that shares our ambition of improving communities through quality housing design,” he said.

“These proposals include several house types, with variety in eaves, roof heights and materials to give visual interest and variation across the site, reinforcing the character of the new development. What we’re doing with schemes like this is helping to redesign the suburbs with high-quality house types.”

David Wroe, development director at Mulbury, added: “This scheme demonstrates the quality of our open market offer as part of the Mulbury Living brand. The design is sensitive and respectful to its surroundings and will deliver high quality, spacious homes in a desirable location.”

Running out of land in Prestwich to build upon these days….The area is very clearly defined (M25,) with the motorway to the north, Heaton Park and The Clough, to the east and west, and the Salford boundary past Sedgley Park…..Otherwise people end up living in an estate agent’s definition of “Prestwich”…
