Plans in for Holmes Chapel Sainsbury’s

Bluemantle and Sainsbury's Supermarkets have submitted a planning application to Cheshire East Council for a 25,000 sq ft foodstore on the site of the former Fisons Building in London Road.

The plans include a petrol filling station, 260 car parking spaces and a re-cycling centre. The new store will create up to 175 new full and part-time jobs and, Bluemantle said, give local residents in Holmes Chapel the opportunity to do their weekly food shopping locally.

Simon Isherwood, director of Bluemantle, said 78% of respondents at a three-day consultation event, attended by 650 people, were supportive of the proposals. He said 80% of local residents currently travel to neighbouring towns including Northwich, Congleton, Knutsford, Winsford and Sandbach in order to do their weekly food shop.

HOW Planning is acting as planning consultant on the scheme. The architect is Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson.

I would like to see a Sainsburys in the village. A larger Supermarket is needed especially selling petrol and I would welcome it.
