Plans in for derelict Altrincham hostel

Real Estate Investment Partnerships has submitted a planning application to redevelop Alexandra House in Altrincham into 41 high-end apartments, designed by Ollier Smurthwaite.

Sizes range from 430 sq ft townhouses to a 1,289 sq ft three-bedroom duplexes.

The development value for the scheme is £19.6m.

The 0.9-acre plot is the site of a derelict hostel, and is within The Downs conservation area, near to the Altrincham Metrolink station.

Real Estate Investment Partnerships bought the building from Great Places Housing Group in May 2015.

Steve Slater, investment director at Real Estate Investment Partnerships, said: “We are very excited to start work on this development. The site has great potential and our architects have designed a high quality residential development that is in keeping with the surrounding area. We want to create a truly amazing place to live that will be a worthy of its place in what is a stunning high profile location.”

Great something is happening here, but some more higher-end family homes (£400-£650k for 3-4 beds) would sell much quicker here. Only so many luxury apartments an area can take…
