Plans in for Altrincham FC fan zone
The club is pushing ahead with its 10-year vision to expand Moss Lane by submitting an application to create a dedicated area for fans in time for next season.
Designed by Define Architects, the first phase of work would see the north-west corner of the ground, the area connecting the stand at the Golf Road end of the stadium and the Popular Stand, reconfigured to create a ‘fan zone’.
The zone would provide an area for fans to meet before games and include food and drink outlets under a wooden canopy.
Work is due to begin in August, subject to planning approval.
Gavin Watts, founder of Define Architects, said: “The proposed ground improvement works is the first part of realising the 10-year vision, which we presented at the beginning of the year.

“The project is a self-build initiative that seeks to restore and improve an underused area of the ground, and give back to the supporters and community.”
Watts added that a crowdfunding campaign would be launched in the next couple of weeks with some incentives for the local community to become involved in the project.
Subsequent phases include plans to improve the sponsors’ lounge and the players’ and officials’ areas.
Over the longer term, the existing Popular Side and Moss Lane stands would be replaced, according to the club’s vision, and a contemporary roof constructed, while safe-standing zones would be implemented at the Golf Road and Chequer’s End.
Altrincham FC currently leases the ground from Trafford Council.
