Plans in for 62,000 sq ft industrial scheme in Altrincham

Developer Quorum wants to build two warehouses on three acres off George Richards Way in Broadheath.

The site was formerly the home of Cartwright Trailer Company, but has since been cleared.

Quorum purchased the site last year under the advice of Knight Frank’s industrial and logistics team and B8 Real Estate. If Quorum’s application to Trafford Council is successful, the company plans to start work on the site this summer and complete both units in early 2023.

The first of the proposed buildings would offer 37,000 sq ft of space, including room for offices and a mezzanine. The second would be 25,000 sq ft. The scheme is designed by Aew Architects.

“These two new units will provide best in class accommodation aimed at the increasingly active SME market,” said Knight Frank industrial and logistics partner Sam Royle.

“They will help meet increasing demand across the South Manchester market where there is a distinct lack of available modern stock and record low vacancy rates,” he continued.

“Whilst already recognised as a primary industrial and office park location, the proposed new primary access point off George Richards Way will help to reposition this site and provide a fantastic trading location for future occupiers with improved accessibility and a high-profile business environment.”

Could be a good site for Altrincham Glass to move to and release valuable land for domestic dwellings plus separating Industry from close domestic housing as it stands today.

What about residents who are yards away across the canal. Noise, pollution, blocked light. And impact already in congested roads around the retail park .
