Plans in for 44-storey Greengate tower

Renaker Build has submitted a planning application to Salford City Council for Exchange Court, a 350-apartment building in Greengate.

AQ Investments, a subsidiary of Renaker, revealed its proposals in February, for 350 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments on a 0.5-acre triangular plot between the River Irwell and Trinity Way, within the Greengate development area.

The 130m glazed tower, designed by OMI Architects, includes a 16-storey brick and aluminium-clad lower elevation.

The scheme will be targeted at the private rented sector and will include amenities such as a gym and a rooftop garden.

Exchange Court will be built next to The Residence, formerly known as Norton Court, a 34 and 14 storey scheme which was approved at the end of last year. Proposed by developer Silverlane, and designed by Jeffrey Bell Architects, the project was bought earlier this month by Liverpool-based developer Elliot Group. The scheme will total 300 apartments.

Exchange Court is Renaker’s second project in the development complex on the border of Manchester and Salford, with the developer also delivering 497 apartments at One Greengate, which is due to complete at the end of this year.

The Residence sounds like an Afternoon Aussie soap, set in an old peoples home. Why not just call these places by their numbers followed by Trinity. As in Number 1 Trinity for example.
