Plans for 20,000 sq ft Aldi and 48 Bloor homes up for approval

Halton Council is recommended to approve both of the planning applications at its meeting on 9 August.

Also on the agenda is a plan to build 12 two-bedroom apartments on the site of the Appleton Village Pharmacy. Bolton-based Challenger Building Services’ application to erect a three-storey building filled with 35 retirement living apartments on Irwell Lane in Runcorn will also be discussed. Both are recommended for approval.

The 48-home scheme is from Bloor Homes North West and is focused on seven acres opposite Stalbridge Drive in Runcorn. If approved, Bloor will construct 22 three-bedroom and 26 four-bedroom market houses on the site.

The 20,000 sq ft Aldi application would replace the existing 15,600 sq ft Aldi at Green Oaks Way in Widnes. That original Aldi would be demolished. The plan also has spaces for car parking, including six disabled parking spaces.

Aldi’s application calls for five hoops for ten cycles to be stored in as well. JLL is the planner for the scheme. The Harris Partnership is the architect.
