Manchester City Council granted consent to DeTrafford’s No1 Castlefield following a site visit yesterday, while a decision on Salboy’s 13-storey aparthotel on Shudehill has been deferred to allow councillors to examine the impact of the “very big building” on the junction site.

At the planning committee councillors supported a request for a site visit before considering the recommendation to approve. Cllr Hugh Barratt said: “It’s a very important site and a main junction, so I support the idea of a site visit so that we can look at the size of the building, which is a very big building, and the area around it, in order to assess the objections coming in.”
