Planning silk ‘Kit Kat’ joins Kings Chambers
Renowned planning barrister Christopher Katkowski has joined the Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham-based chambers as a member of its planning and environmental group.
Well-known in the industry as ‘Kit Kat’, Katkowski has been based at Landmark Chambers in London for the past 37 years specialising in planning work for inquiries and judicial reviews.
He has acted for some of the UK’s biggest developers and was also the planning lawyer appointed by the Government to the task force that drew up the planning system reform proposals set out in the Planning for the Future white paper published last August.
Katkowski was appointed by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as an advisor to the Local Plans Expert Group in 2016 and the following year as an advisor to the Rosewell Review, a Government-led study aimed at improving and speeding up planning appeal inquiries.
At Kings Chambers, he will continue to be based in London and service his existing clients, as well as travelling around the country once circumstances permit to help grow the work of Kings’ planning and environmental practice.
Kings’ head of chambers Paul G Tucker QC said: “This is the best possible news for the planning team at Kings Chambers and the whole of chambers welcomes Chris joining us.”
Katkowski added: “I’m really looking forward to carrying on doing the job that I love so much as a planning QC, from my new home at Kings Chambers.”
His clerks are chief clerk Gary Smith and senior clerk Mark Ronson.
This is the judicial equivalent of signing Lionel Messi!! Great move Mr Tucker

Having having had the ‘pleasure’ of being cross-examined by KitKat, I can tell you this is a real coup for Kings Chambers. One of, if not the, best in the business.
