Around 420 homes are expected to get the go-ahead at Manchester Metropolitan University's former Alsager campus

PLANNING | Councillors consider houses across Cheshire East

Housebuilders Bovis, Barratt and Russell Homes all have developments across Cheshire East that have been recommended for approval at the council’s planning committee tomorrow.

Officer reports ahead of the meeting on 21 September have suggested the following schemes be granted planning consent, despite some objections around scale and locations:

  • Detailed application for 250 homes off Crewe Road in Haslington, by Bovis
  • The development of 426 houses on the former Manchester Metropolitan University Alsager campus, by Barratt and David Wilson Homes, which will see the demolition of all other buildings on site
  • 140 homes on Back Lane in Congleton, by Russell Homes, which is in open countryside, and near to Jodrell Bank telescope
  • A £13m retail park at Barracks Mill, a derelict site in Macclesfield, by Cedar Invest. The park will total 130,000 sq ft and has KFC and Costa Coffee signed up as occupiers so far

Great. A sprawling sea of bland, over priced noddy boxes devoid of character, adequate infrastructure or any place making qualities.
