Hourigan Connolly has appointed Niall Mellan as senior planner at its Manchester office.
Mellan joins from Countryside Properties, prior to which he had spells at Persimmon Homes, and Cheshire West & Chester and Chorley councils.
Hourigan Connolly said that Mellan has a deep understanding of planning issues affecting the region and has first-hand experience of delivering complex residential schemes from his client side experience.
Marc Hourigan, executive director at the Northern Quarter-based firm, said: “We are delighted to welcome Niall to the practice, he brings with him a can-do attitude, a wealth of commercial experience and a track record of delivering schemes quickly and efficiently.
“These are skills our developer clients value highly and it is what sets this practice apart from many of our competitors.”
Mellan added: “I’m really looking forward to my new role at Hourigan Connolly and believe my previous experience will help me get the best out of schemes for clients.
“Having been a client in the past, I know what’s expected from a consultant and I’m excited about bringing an efficient, proactive and commercially minded approach to my advice.”
