Planit-IE expands masterplanning expertise

Principal urban designer Rob Thompson and senior urban designer Louise Fountain have both joined the Altrincham studio.

Thompson was appointed from Sheffield City Council where he was responsible for formulating many of the city’s design guidance and quality standards. He also set up and managed Sheffield’s sustainability and design review panel.

Thompson will work alongside Andy Roberts, partner and director of urban design, to grow the team in Planit-IE’s Altrincham and London offices.

He specialises in urban masterplanning projects.

Fountain joined from IBI Group and has previously worked as both an architect and a graphic designer.

Planit-IE has around 40 members of staff, including eight in the urban design team. Current projects including the Alderley Park masterplan for Manchester Science Partnerships, Liverpool Waters for Peel Holdings, the Co-operative Group’s NOMA estate and  public realm improvements to Altrincham town centre.
