Places for People, which manages an estate of 60,000 properties, is looking for a maximum of 54 suppliers to carry out the work over a four-year period.

A notice in the Official Journal of the European Union said: "Places for People is seeking expressions of interest from innovative and suitably resourced, qualified and experienced providers to deliver a window and door supply and installation and supply only service for housing stock in England, parts of Scotland and Wales."

The job, which is worth a total of £12.7m, has been divided into 18 lots.

In the North West the windows contract is worth £1.1m while the doors job is worth £575,000.

The deadline for expressions of interest is January 1.
