PlaceEXPO at IFB: June – July 2014

PlaceEXPO partnersPlace North West has signed its first partners for a series of industry events and exhibitions in June and July as part of the UK's International Festival for Business, hosted in Liverpool.

The seven-week PlaceEXPO programme will display the skills and assets the North West has to offer to the rest of the world.

PlaceEXPO will take place in St Paul's Square in Liverpool's commercial district throughout the seven weeks of the International Festival for Business 2014. This will be a dedicated property campus with versatile spaces for use by the property sector to host conferences, meetings, exhibitions and receptions.

The programme will be broadly designed to echo the themed weeks of the wider IFB. PlaceEXPO organisers Place North West and Active Profile are working with public and private partners within the property community to create the best showcase for the sector during this unique festival.

Launch partners for PlaceEXPO include law firm Hill Dickinson, Kier Construction (North) and English Cities Fund. Trade organisations supporting the property pavilion include the Forum for the Built Environment, Professional Liverpool, Royal Institute of British Architects, Liverpool Architectural Society, Civil Engineering Contractors Association and Liverpool Commercial District BID Company.

Events already confirmed to be held within PlaceEXPO include debates on the future of cities, the logistics market, knowledge economy and building for education.

PlaceEXPO will occupy the ground floor of No 4 St Paul's Square with two distinct spaces split between theatre-style seminar room for formal presentations and debate, and a more informal exhibition, coffee shop and networking space.

The most significant commercial office-led development in Liverpool city centre within the past decade, St Paul's Square is the focal point for Liverpool's commercial district.
Developed by English Cities Fund, a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General Property and the Homes & Communities Agency, the scheme has played a major role in the renaissance of Liverpool's commercial offering and has set new standards in terms of architecture, design, quality and sustainability.

No 1 St Pauls SquareIn addition, PlaceEXPO will use the top floor of No 1 St Paul's Square, Hill Dickinson's superb client suite with stunning views out to the Mersey and the Port of Liverpool, for seminars and trade meetings between delegates and PlaceEXPO partners.

PlaceEXPO is an official venue within the IFB programme and will be clearly signposted from the IFB HUB visitor reception centre at Mann Island, as well as benefiting from central promotion via ifb2014.com.

David Swaffield, head of property and construction at Hill Dickinson, said: "The festival will bring together businesses large and small from across the globe to experience the full spectrum of UK industry from manufacturing to maritime, professional services to logistics and everything in between.

"Hill Dickinson is an international law firm with offices across Europe and the Far East and as such, we value the importance of positioning the UK as a global player. We hope that the IFB will provide a platform to showcase North West development opportunities and position the UK, in particular cities outside London and the South East, as a prime destination for global investment."

Gary Wintersgill, managing director at Kier Construction (North), said: "In our centenary year working in Merseyside we are keen to support the IFB and PlaceEXPO in particular to showcase the diverse range of projects that Kier is involved in delivering across the region. These include the development of multiple schools and University Technical Colleges in Liverpool, as well as the new Mersey Gateway bridge in Halton, which starts later this year."

Phil Mayall, development director at English Cities Fund, commented: "ECf are delighted to be supporting PlaceExpo at the IFB, providing the backdrop to the event at No 4 St Paul's Square, in the heart of Liverpool's Commercial District. The event will provide an excellent opportunity to show the transformation of the city and everything that is best about business and innovation in Liverpool and across the UK."
