Place launches The Subplot with David Thame

The Subplot is a weekly supplement of stimulating analysis that will add a probing and incisive voice to our daily news coverage, written by one of the most highly regarded property writers covering the region.

Subplot

The Subplot will appear in inboxes on Tuesday mornings, starting tomorrow

Place North West is pleased to launch The Subplot, a companion to the much-loved Place Daily Briefing. Sponsored by developer Bruntwood Works, consultancy Savills and public affairs adviser Cratus, The Subplot will focus on getting behind the headlines and examining the issues affecting the industry, as well as the significant role the North West plays in the national economy.

David Thame joins Place as analysis editor, responsible for producing the supplement and contributing broadly to the editorial management team.

Thame has more than 30 years’ experience covering the region’s property industry. He started his career writing for Chartered Surveyor Weekly – which would later become Property Week – in 1988. He left Property Week to join Estates Gazette, where he worked for many years, and has also contributed to Investors Chronicle, The Grocer, Retail Week, Farmers Weekly, and, latterly, Bisnow.

The Subplot will be distributed to Place North West’s 12,500 subscribers every Tuesday morning and will be published on the Special Reports section of the Place website.

Thame said: “Manchester and the North West’s property scene demand the same serious analysis that London and the South East have had for so long. This isn’t ‘the provinces’ – this is where it’s all happening.

“Getting deep under the surface of the region’s property market, and the economy that drives it, is what The Subplot is all about.”

He added: “Place North West has become the journal of record for the region’s property market for 15 years, no rivals.

“It is the obvious platform from which to take on the overdue task of digging deep into the regional economy and the property market that serves it. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the team. It’s going to be a blast.”

Sarah Townsend, editor of Place North West, said: “The Subplot is the ideal complement to our fast-paced daily news coverage and David is the ideal writer to deliver it.

“Each weekly bulletin will provide discursive and provocative analysis in a conversational tone and ask the tough questions the market has either wanted to ask, or didn’t think to, and are glad someone did.

“We are thrilled to have David on board and believe this editorial product will be an exciting and well-read addition to the Place stable.”
