Pickles sets date for Cheshire housing inquiry decision
Campaigners opposed to plans by Redrow to build 650 new houses on two farms in Hartford, Cheshire are due to find out if they have won on Monday 15 July.
Eric Pickles, Communities Secretary, was due to give his decision last week on the outcome of a public inquiry. However, the revocation of the Regional Spatial Strategy on 20 May could affect his decision. Targets for the number of new homes were set in the RSS but now fall under local authority control.
Redrow sister companies Bridgemere Land and Harrow Estates submitted applications for 350 homes off School Lane and 300 houses on land at Grange Farm, respectively.
Cheshire West & Chester Council rejected the application in June 2012 on traffic grounds. Following an appeal a public inquiry was held in December.
Hartford Parish Council and Hartford Joint Action Group, a lobby group, submitted 2,000 objections from residents and businesses to CWAC as part of the evidence.
The developers argued that there was critical demand for housing in Cheshire and the traffic impacts would not be severe as a travel plan would reduce the impact.
is this the same case where the Managing Director of the Appellant lives a couple of miles away and sends her kids to school in Hartford via car, yet her company based their entire case on how the new residents of 4 & 5 bedroom houses would behave differently & walk to work & school?
