Pickles approves Kirkham housing plans

Secretary of State Eric Pickles has ruled in favour of two developers who appealed against Fylde Borough Council's refusal to approve applications to build more than 300 homes in Kirkham.

Pickles agreed with a planning inspector's recommendation that the applications be approved on the basis that the council does not have a local plan in place and cannot demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable land for new housing.

Gladman Developments and Bloor Homes North West now have permission to build 320 on countryside land at Little Tarnbrick Farm, Blackpool Road, Kirkham.
