Scout Green, a firm headed up by Derek Lilley, the founder of the restaurants Piccolino and Est Est Est, has been granted approval to build 55 homes off Manchester Road in Mossley, Tameside.
The 2.2-acre former council depot, next to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, will be redeveloped to provide a mix of homes including houses and apartments.
The homes will face a village green that forms the centrepiece of the proposal.
“The green becomes the focal point of the development, taking away the token garden fronts that some developments have, and creating a community space,” according to the architect for the scheme, Architect:M.
Peacock & Smith is the planner for the project.
