Performing arts centre out to tender

Preston College is seeking a contractor for its £4m Fulwood Campus Redevelopment project having secured a Skills Funding Agency grant.

The proposed development will create a new landmark entrance building incorporating performing arts studios, theatre and classrooms.

Taylor Young Architects has designed the development to RIBA Stage C, comprising 15,000 sq ft of newbuild and 2,000 sq ft of refurbished accommodation.

More detailed plans are now being worked up before a full planning application is submitted to Preston City Council.

The college hopes to have the new building completed and open to students for the start of the 2011 academic year.
