Peel unveils Ellesmere Port plans

Peel Investments (North) has submitted an outline planning application to Cheshire West & Chester Council for commercial and residential development on 26.8 acres of land in Ellesmere Port.

The application covers brownfield land off Rossmore Road East, North Road and Poole Hall Road to the north of the town centre.

Peel plans to build 300 family homes including new affordable housing as well as modern employment space.

If delivered, the scheme, to be known as Rossfield Park North, will add to the new residential development by Persimmon and Wainhomes in Rossfield Park in the Rossmore Road East area. It would also provide a link between Rossfield Park and Pioneer Business Park to the north.

Louise Morrissey, director of land and planning at Peel, said: "Key to Peel's various developments and proposals is the aspiration to achieve a step change in the prosperity and image of Ellesmere Port as a great place to live and work. We believe that these proposals will help to achieve this and in doing so will support important ongoing regeneration in the area. Providing new homes is a key issue for the town of Ellesmere Port and for promoting and sustaining regeneration; creating a new community is key to this. We believe that not only is this site suitable for residential development but that it will be attractive to house builders – increasing the chance of new development coming forward and therefore providing new homes that are needed."

Peel said it proposes further development at Telford's Quay and Ellesmere Port Docks through a scheme known as Ellesmere Quays and has a 30-year plan for the area.
