Peel plans in for Knowsley 700

Peel Logistics has submitted an outline planning application for up to 800,000 sq ft of employment space at Knowsley Industrial Park near Liverpool.

Peel’s development is targeted at manufacturing and distribution businesses.

Peel is advised by Indigo Planning and AEW Architects, with AEW designing three illustrative layout options for the site for a range of occupiers.

Knowsley Industrial Park accommodates around 600 businesses over 900-acres of land. The 37-acre site is the largest on the park. It has been vacant since September 2012.

Peel said it would shortly commit to a groundworks package of £1.5m to ready the site for development.

Steve Burne, managing director of AEW Architects, said: “We worked closely with the client to explore various layout solutions that provide varying levels of floor space ranging from 800,000 sq ft for one large single unit, or options for two or three units totalling 720,000 sq ft. This is a great site that is perfectly suited to large scale employment units.”

A decision on the application by Knowsley Council is expected towards the end of September.

The consultant team includes Zerum, TTHC, Ecology Solutions, DBK, Shepherd Gilmore, Wardell Armstrong, Christians Environmental, and e3p.
