Peel in the mix to build energy saving plant

Peel Energy is amongst only three bidders pitching to construct a demonstration carbon capture and storage plant for the Government.

It follows news BP has decided to pull out of bidding because of its failure to put a consortium together for the commercially and technically viable project.

A subsidiary of Manchester-based Peel Holdings, Peel Energy has been short listed with ScottishPower and E.ON UK, with the Department of Energy and Climate Change stating the competition would still continue as planned.

If a success, the £1bn commercial scale CCS plant will be key to the Government's clean energy strategy.
