Peel holds Liverpool Waters events

Peel Group is to hold two public events to present its vision for the Liverpool Waters development of 150 acres of the city's underused Central Docks, following submission of a planning application in October 2010.

Lindsey Ashworth, director of Peel, will give a presentation explaining the evolution of the £5.5bn scheme, first mooted in 2006, to the present situation and what happens next. Peel plans a mixed-use development comprising up to 14m sq ft of new buildings.

Several new artists' impressions will be revealed at the events.

In November, Communities Secretary Eric Pickles said the mirroring Wirral Waters development would not be called in for a public inquiry. Wirral Council has granted consent to the 18m sq ft dockland scheme in Birkenhead and Wallasey.

The Liverpool Waters presentations will take place in Monday 31 January from 6pm to 9pm and Monday 7 February, also from 6pm to 9pm, both at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Princes Dock.

Peel will no doubt be handing their begging bowl around the various public agencies before even considering turning a sod of earth on these schemes, as is their business model.

I’ve just been left disappointed at not seeing these plans! Working late tonight and made a dash over to Crowne Plaza to find no plans. Arrived at just gone 8pm to be greeted by four or six staff and blank boards. was told: "They’ll be on our website". Er..thanks! If you say 9pm, can you please keep your "public event" running until 9pm. Gutted.
