Peel announces £20m MediaCityUK Broadway building

MediaCityUK has submitted plans to Salford City Council for a 100,000 sq ft office and hotel block, next to the Booths food store and multi-storey car park.

The 10-storey building will have 54,000 sq ft of creative offices and studio space aimed at the TMT sector, with six floors occupied by a 112-bedroom Premier Inn.

If approved, the new building will add to Peel's office offering at MediaCityUK, alongside the Greenhouse, the Pie Factory, White, Orange and Blue Towers, the Landing, Quay West, the Victoria and the Alexandra. According to Peel, more than 200 smaller media and tech companies are now based at MediaCityUK.

Once approved construction will commence at the end of 2014, with the scheme due for completion by late 2015 and the hotel will open early 2016. The architect is Chapman Taylor.

Stephen Wild, managing director of MediaCityUK, said: "Technology, media and creative is a rapidly growing sector in Greater Manchester, which itself is now considered the second largest creative and digital hub in Europe. MediaCityUK has been a key trigger in the explosion of creative start-ups and national relocations so it's essential that we give these businesses the right type of space and the flexibility to grow organically."
