Park Lane upbeat despite lack of deals at Stamford Quarter

Prestwich-based developer Park Lane Estates has announced its first and so far only tenant for the latest phase of its £40m retail redevelopment in Altrincham, set to open in September.

The Carphone Warehouse has taken a 2,500 sq ft unit, one of ten units in the phase, which will total 75,000 sq ft.

A spokesman for Park Lane said the "vast majority" of units would be let by the autumn in time for Christmas trading.

Jonathan Green of Victor Estates, consultant for Park Lane Estates, added: "We are in talks with a number of national high street retailers that will involve relocation as well as new units within phase 2. We will have further announcements to make in due course."

Work on phase two includes a remodelling of the centre's car park. Phase one was anchored by Debenhams, returning to the town after ten years, and Next.

In total, the redevelopment will create 146,000 sq ft of retail space and 203,000 sq ft will be refurbished.

A third phase will include residential and leisure uses.

Tushingham Moore advises Park Lane. Carphone Warehouse was represented by Bryant Champion Long.
