Paddock Johnson announces change in leadership

The Wirral-based architecture firm has announced the retirement of co-founders Michael Paddock, Eric Johnson, and Phil Emslie, while directors Victoria Alderton and Simon Halliwell have taken the reins.

Paddock, Johnson, and Emslie continue to work as consultants for firms throughout their retirement.

Alderton joined Paddock Johnson in 2017 from her role as an associate at Purcell, while Halliwell has been with PJP for 14 years and joined the board of directors in 2016.

Both Alderton and Halliwell are currently working on projects which rethink standard retirement housing, conservation efforts, and affordable housing.

Paddock Johnson has also recently welcomed Maria Killick as an associate. She specialises in architectural and sustainable design.

Simon Halliwell said: “I have a keen interest in planning policy and how this can inform and shape our proposals, adding value and creating places which people can relate to. In the North West alone there are a number of notable projects underway and in development which present a huge opportunity for Paddock Johnson Partnership to engage and work on.

“With Maria Killick joining our team during the summer, Victoria and I are looking forward to an exciting future for the practise. Delivering design conscious projects that positively shape our environment through listening and teamwork are our priority.”

Victoria Alderton said “Being based in Port Sunlight is a huge inspiration and I love solving challenges that historic sites present and finding new sustainable uses that will secure their long-term future.”

The firm, which was established in 1976, operates from a former schoolhouse in Port Sunlight, Wirral.

Hadn’t realised Maria had joined over the summer. Great appointment by Paddock Johnson – their gain is AGA’s loss.
