Overbury wins Media City contract

Salford University has selected Morgan Sindall subsidiary Overbury to fit out its 100,000 sq ft teaching space at Media City UK ahead of the handover of the building by developer Peel Media in November.

The university will occupy four floors of the 12-storey building to be known as the Orange building to reflect the district it occupies in Peel's colour-coded street grid for Media City.

Overbury, based in Spring Gardens in Manchester city centre, will be responsible for procuring and installing audio visual equipment, specialist TV and radio studios, a café, open plan and cellular offices and meeting rooms and a high level of acoustic separation.

Students from 39 courses across all parts of the university will use the new facility.

The fit-out is expected to be completed towards the end of 2011.
