Overbury wins Global’s XYZ fit-out

Media group Global has awarded the contract to create its latest broadcast centre, at the XYZ building in Spinningfields, Manchester, to fit-out contractor Overbury.

Global is to consolidate two offices in Salford Quays by taking the top two floors at Allied London’s 160,000 sq ft building, currently nearing completion.

Overbury will fit out 16,500 sq ft of open plan offices, reception area, breakout spaces, broadcast studios, production rooms, newsrooms and a communications room. Part of the work will see Overbury carry out the installation of the technical cabling required for a major broadcast company.

Overbury, which has an office on Spring Gardens in Manchester city centre, has delivered a number of contracts in the North West media industry in recent years, including the fit out of the BBC and ITV media studios, as well as a media studio facility for the University of Salford, all of which are located at MediaCityUK.

Global has worked with Overbury at studios in Birmingham and Newcastle previously.
