Orbit outlines further plans at Academy Business Park

Orbit Developments has submitted a planning application for a petrol station, coffee shop and retail kiosk at Academy Business Park in Knowsley as work continues at the site’s speculative 220,000 sq ft distribution centre.

The developer, part of Emerson Group, has lodged the application for the filling station, retail kiosk and coffee shop to be accessed off County Road’s roundabout, and hopes the development will support further progress at the business park, which is next to Liverpool Football Club’s training academy.

The company estimated the petrol station would create 16 new jobs. The site has previous planning consent for a restaurant and a filling station, granted in 2004, but these were never progressed.

Orbit started work on a speculatively-built distribution centre earlier this year through its in-house construction company Jones Contracts. This will deliver 220,000 sq ft over two phases, including a 110,000 sq ft warehouse in the first phase.

The joint agents for the scheme are CBRE and B8 Real Estate.
