ONE MONTH TO GO | Northern Transport Summit

Government investment in Northern transport, regeneration potential around transport hubs, the efficiency of bus and train operators, and future travel technology will all be discussed at the Northern Transport Summit on 25 June.

Tickets are on sale for Place North West’s annual Northern Transport Summit, which is to be held at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Monday 25 June. The full-day event is held in partnership with Transport for the North and is sponsored by Broadway Malyan, WSP and Tatton Group.

The conference will look at issues such as how councils and developers can best take advantage of land around transport hubs, the impact of future transport technologies, creating greener cities for pedestrians and cyclists, Government transport investment plans, and much more.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham will join Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram at the Northern Transport Summit, alongside Transport Secretary Chris Grayling, and chief executives from Transport for the North and a raft of Northern councils, alongside transport operators and developers to debate transport issues and improvements.

There will be four panel debates, looking at transport in action, local authority regeneration plans including multi-modal travel, transport within the bigger national and political picture, and future transport innovation. There will also be presentations addressing whether the Government is really listening to the North on transport need, how the property sector is impacted, and the implications around Greater Manchester towns.

Speakers include:

  • Chris Grayling, Secretary of State for Transport
  • Andy Burnham, Metro Mayor of Greater Manchester
  • Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region
  • Melanie Leech, chief executive, British Property Federation
