One Manchester consults on Hulme housing
Housing provider One Manchester has put together plans for 170 homes across two sites in Hulme, and is hosting a public exhibition next week to consult local stakeholders on the schemes.
If approved, the project known as Hulme Living, will see a mixture of two-bed apartments and three-bed townhouses built at Leaf Street and Royce Road.
The new homes on Royce Road will consist of 66 two-bedroom apartments designed by OMI architects and situated on a corner site where Royce Road meets Chorlton Road.
Designed by Mecanoo, the development on Leaf Street will have 100 new homes next to Princess Parkway.
One Manchester is a housing provider responsible for managing over 12,500 homes across south and east Manchester.
This is the first new-build scheme proposed by One Manchester since the organisation formed earlier this year from the merger of Eastlands Homes and City South Manchester Housing Trust.
All revenues earned from the new homes will be reinvested back into community development programmes.
Before submitting the proposals to Manchester City Council, One Manchester is inviting residents living near to the two sites to attend a public exhibition at the Z-arts centre in Hulme:
- Plans for Leaf Street: Monday 3 August and Tuesday 4 August, 3pm to 7pm
- Plans for Royce Road: Wednesday 5 August and Thursday 6 August, 3pm to 7pm
At both exhibitions, members of the project team including architects and highways specialists will be on hand to talk with residents about the plans and to answer any questions.
