On The Banks makes progress in Burnley

Work has started on the second phase of the On The Banks development in Burnley.

Delivered by joint venture development company Barnfield Burnley Developments Limited, it includes public realm works and the installation of a bridge across the Leeds Liverpool canal.

Work is planned to start early next year on Slater Terrace which is the third phase of the On The Banks development and will provide canal side offices from 220 sq ft.

Meanwhile, youth charity The Prince's Trust is among those organisations moving into the development. It will occupy The Pennine Lancashire centre within the former Sandygate mill.

The trust has agreed a 10-year lease arranged through the property investment arm of the Barnfield Group, Barnfield Investment Properties.

Barnfield completed work on the first stage of On The Banks, the Vision's Learning Trust £10.3m University Technical College, earlier this year.

The Nelson company had been working since July 2012 on the repair, refurbishment and extension of Victoria Mill, one of the main buildings within the On The Banks development. The area was formerly known as Weavers Triangle.

It was the first project in the north of England to receive Regional Growth Fund Round 2 investment.
