Ollerton to extend Mobberley golf course

Cheshire East Council has granted planning consent to Ollerton Leisure to double the size of its golf course in Mobberley.

The club will extend its nine hole course to a full 18 as well as offering a new practice driving range, a smaller six hole academy training course and an extension to its club house, all designed by architects Pozzoni.

Alexa Brain, associate at Drivers Jonas, advising Ollerton, said: "The plans represent a significant investment in the village and demonstrate the club's long-term commitment to the local economy."

Jeremy Hobson, co-owner of the club, said: "Re-developing our club will turn it into a first class leisure facility within East Cheshire, offering a top class course as well as state-of-the-art practice facilities for both members and visitors."

Nice and friendly pay and play, currently a bit too pay (20 quid for 9 holes twice) and not enough play (9 holes twice) so as long as they don’t hike up prices too much should work out well. PS. Is Jeremy Hobson the same bloke who sold EP2 a few years back? Can’t be that many about

I believe Jeremy Hobson is that man. Played there last September, i could not believe how good it was, the greens were the fantastic, in fact the whole course was. Also the staff were very helpful and pleasant. I don’t think you’ll find better value anywhere. I think they will do very well indeed. But i agree with you, prices need to stay competitive, but i was led to believe that they will. Apparently they have a new golf director who is working miracles, he was a tournament professional in the past. Keeping hold of him may be the difficulty for them as news travels fast! But i wish them well. I will certainly use the facilities.
