Office supplier expands

GGI Office Furniture UK has expanded its operations in Lancashire after leasing a new 27,000 sq ft facility in Darwen.

The company already has office and warehousing premises in Global Way and has taken extra capacity in Branch Road in a deal with an unnamed private landlord. GGI Office Furniture has 156 staff and is part of Global Group International. The business manufactures and supplies seating, tables and office furniture for the corporate, education, hospitality and healthcare sectors.

The new facility will accommodate the operations of West Yorkshire-based Selector Office Furniture which it acquired in 2009.

GGI was advised on the lease by the real estate team at Lancashire-based commercial law firm Garricks. Iain Hall, head of the real estate team at Garricks, said: "To have such a large company, with a global presence, expanding in Darwen and bringing jobs into the area is great news for the local economy. The new warehousing facility gives GGI the additional space it needs to continue servicing worldwide customer demand."

Carlos Viveiros, chief executive of GGI Office Furniture, said: "This new unit gives us the extra capacity we need to fully integrate the Selector brand into the business and we are also incredibly pleased to have been able to invest in and grow our operations in Darwen."

Letting agents Taylor Weaver advised the landlord.
