Odeon joins tenant list at No8 First Street

Cinema operator Odeon is understood to be under offer to take 26,000 sq ft of offices within No8 First Street as its Manchester headquarters, relocating out of Lee House on Great Bridgewater Street.

No8 is a 170,000 sq ft office currently under construction at First Street.

Work on the project, which had stalled following main contractor Carillion’s liquidation in January, restarted last month. Ask Real Estate manages the development on behalf of the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund and Patrizia. GVA acts investment manager for GMPVF. Completion is due in the coming months.

The deal to Gazprom would take the eight-storey office to nearly fully let. Gazprom secured a 60,000 sq ft pre-let on the building in 2015, and has taken possession of its two floors for fit out. WSP is also understood to be moving into 60,000 sq ft, and is expected to move staff in by the summer.

Savills and GVA advise on First Street office lettings.

Odeon’s current base, Lee House, is part of the Churchgate & Lee office complex which sits on the corner of Oxford Street and Great Bridgewater Street, and is owned by Helical Bar.

Great area for a cinema. I wonder why nobody has thought of that before?

By Ben

That area already has a cinema – Home but this article refers to office space not a cinema.
