NPL submits latest Wyre housing proposal

NPL Estates has submitted a planning application to build 51 houses on the site of Thornton Cleveleys FC's ground which will be relocated as part of the plans.

Manchester-based HOW Planning submitted the application on NPL's behalf, having been involved in several previous applications in the Thornton area for NPL Estates.

It is hoped the new housing development will continue the regeneration of NPL's large strategic landholding and the wider area in line with the council's Fleetwood-Thornton Area Action Plan. It follows successful applications by David Wilson Homes for housing in the area and for a new retail-led local centre which was granted approval in early March 2011.

Jon Suckley, associate at HOW Planning, said: "We've submitted several applications to Wyre Borough Council, all of which are part of a much bigger plan for Thornton. This part of Lancashire has a very bright future, as there is a lot of work taking place to regenerate the area and we are looking forward to seeing the plans evolve."
