Northhold plans Blackpool scheme

A planning application has been submitted for a retail and restaurant development facing Blackpool's North Pier designed by Archer Architects for Northhold Group.

The £3m, 23,000 sq ft scheme would replace the former Yates Wine Lodge on Clifton Street which is currently derelict following a fire three years ago.

Darren Friston, associate director of Manchester-based Archer Architects, said: "We are working very closely with Blackpool Council to ensure that we deliver a scheme that will further enhance this popular area of Blackpool. Our designs have incorporated the original features of the previous building including the curved balconies and portholes whilst creating an attractive modern new landmark that overlooks the Pier."

The planning decision is expected at committee later this month.
