Northern Trust ventures into residential in Leyland

Northern Trust has submitted a planning application to South Ribble and Lancashire County Councils to build 55 family homes next to the Farington Lodge Hotel in Leyland, Lancashire.

The plans follow completion of a public consultation in November. A spokesman for Northern Trust said: "Of the few concerns raised most related to access at the site and Northern Trust has taken these comments on board and amended the plans prior to submission of the planning application."

Trevor Hemmings' development company is better known for industrial and office space but is currently taking advantage of opportunities in the market to build its residential portfolio. The firm has added to its land buying and planning teams in the past 12 months as it seeks new sites and consents.

Northern Trust expects the proposals to be considered by South Ribble Council in the spring.
