Northern Trust to sell Leyland housing site

Northern Trust is marketing a residential development opportunity in Lancashire after planning consent was confirmed.

Permission was granted by South Ribble Council for 55 family homes in a variety of types on land next to Farington Lodge Hotel in Leyland. There will also be improvements to the local park.

The Government said the application would not be called in for a public inquiry.

A spokesman for Northern Trust, a commercial rather than residential specialist, said: "Due to the current shortfall in the supply of housing, Northern Trust understands the importance of delivering new family and affordable homes to the local community.

"Northern Trust will now look to commence a disposal strategy and enter into negotiations with prospective house builders with a view to having new family homes constructed next year and the aim of families moving in before the end of 2011."
