Northern Trust’s land and development division has secured planning consent for more than 2,500 homes in the first half of 2015, mainly in Lancashire.
Six planning permissions were achieved in Lancashire covering more than 2,000 units, in Blackpool, St Annes, Kirkham, Pilling, Inskip and Singleton.
Planning permission for 400 houses on a semi-derelict industrial estate in North Tyneside was recently granted.
Stephen Glenn, land executive at Northern Trust, said: “It has been a busy but very successful six months and we are pleased to have secured the planning permissions on each of the sites, some of which have been particularly challenging. We have worked closely with the respective planning authorities, members of the community and other key stakeholders to deliver much need housing. All of the sites are quite different in scale and character, but each will bring considerable benefits, including jobs, regeneration, and investment into the areas concerned, together with addressing the shortfall in local housing supply.”
Northern Trust has a number of other schemes currently being worked up for planning applications, with potential to add several thousand new homes. The company is still seeking new opportunities on either greenfield or brownfield land across the UK.
