Northern Quarter office scheme approved

Landlord Philip J Davies Holdings is to spend £6m refurbishing the 120,000 sq ft Sevendale House in Manchester's trendy Northern Quarter.

Manchester City Council has given planning consent to renovate the Grade 2-listed building in the Stevenson Square conservation area. The original ornate entrance on Dale Street will be reinstated, after being closed for several years.

The building's five upper floors will provide 61,500 sq ft of offices with floorplates of 14,500 sq ft. There will be retail and leisure uses on ground and basement levels.

The project team includes OBI Property, architects Stephenson Bell, Crookes Walker Consulting on mechanical and electrical engineering and Tier Consult on structural engineering.

Dominic Horridge, building consultancy partner at OBI Property, said the plans include the reintroduction of the original light well. He added: "This will provide superb natural daylight for the office space and add much to the attractions of the building for future tenants, in addition to its excellent location close to the business area of Piccadilly and a highly competitive rental package."
