North West receives extra £3.3m to help manage roads

Transport Minister Paul Clark has announced the North West will receive an extra £3.3m to help in the management of roads, bridges and other assets.

The extra funding is being paid in response to bids from the 23 local authorities across the region.

In an statement made today, Paul Clark said: "I am very pleased at the extremely high level of interest from local authorities in this funding. It demonstrates a real understanding of the importance of asset management in delivering a good service to the public."

In total, £24.5m will be awarded to English local authorities.
