North West agents reflect on 2010

The Office Agents Society winter seminar took place at Destino's Restaurant on King Street in Manchester on Thursday.

Fifty two people from Manchester's and Merseyside's agency teams came together to reflect on achievements made in a tough market over the last twelve months.

Introduced by Andrew Gardiner of Jones Lang LaSalle, Patrick Joynson, from Savills, addressed the society with statistics on how the North West property market has performed in 2010.

Joynson said: "During the worst recession, you collectively disposed of a remarkable 3.2m sq ft, created £38.4m worth of rent roll for your clients and in doing so created £450m in asset value for North West landlords. A great achievement in a difficult climate."

Joynson added that office investments sold in the North West over the last ten years equated to a significant £5.65bn.

He said: "To put this into context, you around this room on a combined basis created greater wealth in the North West in 2010 than the gross domestic products of countries such as: Tonga, £367m, Zimbabwe, £221m, all the way down to little old Tokelau in the South Pacific, which according to the CIA World Fact Book 2009, had a gross domestic products of just £670,000."

The event was sponsored by 90 Degrees, TSK and iworxPR.
