Nolan Redshaw secures permission for Standish food store

Independent property consultant Nolan Redshaw has achieved planning permission for a 29,000 sq ft food store at the centre of Standish, on behalf of the owner butcher Noel Chadwick.

Situated on a 2.5 acre site in Standish town centre, the store will also provide 150 car park spaces. No operators are currently confirmed for the unit, but Noel Chadwick is investigating the possibility of developing the site for its own occupancy.

The butcher will stay at its current location on Standish High Street.

Mike Redshaw, director at Nolan Redshaw, commented: "Although it has taken nearly three years to achieve, we are delighted to have completed this deal. Standish town centre continues to experience rapid growth and with a further 1,200 houses proposed in the Local Plan a food store will undoubtedly be a valued community asset."

We have enough food stores and already too many houses – just hope the roads and schools can cope with all this – Standish is a village not a town!!!!

its an absolute joke – more houses, more food stores what about the roads – more congestion and its bad enough now trying to get into Standish from all directions – we will also need more schools etc to accommodate more families and housing – Standish used to be a lovely little village yrs ago not a town – I like to move this the times but this is going from the sublime to the ridiculous!!!

It is commonly accepted that there is a national shortage of housing in the country as a whole with supply failing to keep pace with demand over the last few decades. We are therefore facing a major housing crisis and no matter how unpalatable it maybe some people our children and their children as well as our elderly need somewhere to live why should they be forced out of communities they have lived in for years by NIMBYISM. Take the rose tinted spectacles off all communities are having to face up to these challenges. Standish is not unique in this context.
